I Will Vote

This is a personal project of mine, inspired by the protests in Seattle and Portland where people used bandanas and scarves to protect against COVID-19 and tear gas. Seeing an opportunity to promote voting and advocate for civil rights, I enlisted my dear friend and visual artist, Tony Aguero, who is known as TOMO77. Tony had recently completed stunning artworks depicting modern times as chaotic and brutal as the Dark Ages. He created a piece representing the surrounding chaos: the plague, the riots, arson, tear gas, violence, and even murder hornets. The aim was not only to encourage voting but also to reinforce personal commitments. When worn, the bandana shows 'I WILL' to the wearer and 'VOTE' to the world. Signed and numbered, I distributed them to anyone interested, asking only for a picture in return of how they chose to wear it.
